Microchipping your pets
Pets can easily lose collars, but if your animal goes missing they can be identified quickly if they've been microchipped. Robb Veterinary Clinic recommends microchipping for all pets.
Microchipping involves implanting a microchip the size of a grain of rice under loose skin at the back of the neck. This gives your pet its own unique number that, along with your details and your pets', will be registered and stored on a central database. The chip can be placed either when your pet visits for routine vaccinations and health checks, or at the time of neutering.
